Design a Game Character competition
The ‘Design a Game Character’ competition helps to deliver outcomes for the KS2 Design and technology curriculum. To use research and develop design criteria to inform the design of innovative, functional, appealing products that are fit for purpose, aimed at particular individuals or groups. Plus to generate, develop and communicate their ideas through annotated sketches.
Prize – Keep 16th June (13:00 start) free, up to 30 winners will be invited to make their very own LEGO robots in a workshop by Junior STEM that’ll get you elbow deep in the colourful bricks. You’ll be helped to use innovative software to bring your creations to life using sensors, motors, lights and more. *Some assembly required.
You’ll also get a certificate from a member of the creative team from TT Games. TTGames are the BAFTA award-winning, video games developer of the hugely successful Harry Potter, Star Wars, Marvel franchises for the Lego games series with offices in Knutsford and Wilmslow in Cheshire.
Terms & Conditions & How to Apply – There is no purchase necessary to take part. The competition is limited to children aged 8-11 and will be promoted in Cheshire from 16/4/18. Only one character entry per child. Valid entries must include both 1. Completed Character Design & 2. A completed About You and your character page
- Character Templates drawings of an original character (not existing characters from books or films etc.) showing their special powers where possible
- ‘About You’ page completed with your contact details and the name, description of your character, their special powers, the setting where they exist and what they do in a game
These should arrive by 3/6/18 via post to WEAVE c/o Skills & Growth Co. Suite 13, Sandbach Enterprise Centre, Wesley Ave, Sandbach CW11 1DG or the completed page 1&2 Templates and ‘About You’ pages can be scanned and emailed to Info@nullweave.org.uk
Entries will be judged by Arthur Parsons, Head of Design at TTGames, Denise Proctor MA(RCA) Chair of Weave Creative & Digital Sector Board, Kathryn Brown BA(Ed) and Mandy Martinez Director of Barnaby Festival. The originality and uniqueness of character idea will be a key criteria in selecting the winners.
Winners will be notified week commencing 4/6/18 via the contacts given on the ‘About You’ page.
Winners will be invited to take part in a 2-3 hour Lego Robotics programming session in Macclesfield Town Hall (travel will not be provided). Winners will also receive a commemorative certificate from a member of the TTGames design team on the day.If you cannot attend the certificate will be sent to you or your school. The judges’ decisions are final.
